SLOHS 12-Classroom Annex Building
Description: The existing Annex Building was demolished over Summer 2016 to make room for a new 12-classroom Annex that will break ground in Summer 2017. The exterior of the new 14,885 square foot Classroom Annex will recall the original campus’ Spanish-Mediterranean influenced architecture, taking cues from the adjacent old gymnasium.
Inside the building, the learning environments will be modern, functional and flexible. Space, furniture, and technology are made to adapt to the students’ needs and change on the fly. Wallcoverings will be full height magnetic marker board surfaces to maximize instructional areas with “teaching walls.” The large screen displays in each room will be controlledfrom personal electronic devices, increasing flexibility for various instructional configurations.
Each room will feature energy-efficient components including LED lighting that will automatically adjust to daylight levels, large windows along the interior hallways to maximize daylighting from exterior rooms; and solar tubes illuminating interior core spaces.
Timeline: The new Annex is anticipated to start construction in Summer 2017
